Title: Anticipation
Author: amy_star_
Characters: Sam/Dean
Rating: FRT
Warning: Knifeplay/Bloodplay. Dark themes.

The room was dark, lit only by the flickering of a pair of tall candles; silent but for the harsh breathing of two young men. One was bound to a long, low table, stripped bare. The other, face hidden in the shadows, remained clothed and stalked the perimeter of the table. His hand skimmed over his brother's lean, muscled flank in a gentle motion meant to be soothing. Instead, tension tightened the flesh under his palm; sweat pooled in the shallows of Sam's collarbone and trickled in thin streams down the sides of his body.

"Easy, brother," Dean crooned. Sam struggled weakly against the bonds that held his wrists snug above his head. Dean moved with predatory grace up to the top of the table, crawling sinuously over Sam. He grinned and pressed his face into the crook of his brother's exposed neck, inhaling the masculine scent that rose between them. He nibbled an earlobe and whispered, "Gonna make a meal out of you."

Sam's eyes flashed in the darkness. Dean sat back on his heels, eagerly eyeing his brother, spread out before him like an all-you-can-eat buffet. With one pointed finger, he traced the planes of Sam's stomach, then ran the finger over naked thighs, making the younger man jump again.

"Do you even know what you look like? All golden in the candlelight, trussed like a Christmas turkey. I bet you taste good, too." Dean bent his head and languorously licked a stripe up the centre of Sam's chest. "I've been waiting for this for so long. Been dreaming of you for years, Sammy."

"Don't." Sam's voice was weak, thready. "Don't call me that. Only he gets to call me that, bitch.”

Meg's laugh rang through the room, recognizable despite Dean's baritone. "Oh, I don't think you'll have to worry about me calling you anything much longer, Sammy-boy." She pulled the curved blade out of Sam's duffel bag, Dean's smirk clear on her face in the dim light.

Sam's screams finally echoed through the empty room as she sliced a strip of flesh from his inner thigh. Tilting her head back, she slowly lowered the meat into her mouth. "Like I said, I'm going to have fun eating you." She grinned, her teeth crimson in the flickering flame.

He's white - I'd wanted black originally, but Rebecca at work thought white was cuter and white was cheaper... and really, the #1 reason why I had wanted black is because my portable DVD player is also white, and I didn't want any early-morning confusion.

BUT IT IS HERE. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Anyone have a favourite LJ client for use with it? It's running Linux, Xandros to be precise.

So I have a birthday coming up. Chris told me to make a list of things I want, from the outlandish to the possible. (I took that ball and ran with it; my list included things like "new lungs" because I have the cold from hell, and have for the last... almost two weeks? I think? And dammit, I miss breathing.) And from that list, he offered me this little item:

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=27235&vpn=90OA01A20102111U305Q&manufacture=ASUS

It's a mini-laptop. I think it's cute. I don't need a ton of storage, because I'll have the desktop for storing music, watching shows and whatnot. This is just so I can web-browse while watching TV on the couch. I've been dying to participate in some of these "live" comms, but since this computer is in another room, and I can't even *hear* what's going on from in here... it's difficult. Plus, if I can keep up with my flist *while* watching TV, I might not get sucked into staying up stupidly late on LJ. This is my plan to try and get more sleep. Of course, I'm a realist and I know it'll just fuel my LJ addiction, but hey. I like the lies I tell myself. *g*

Anyway, does anyone have any experience with one of these? It comes pre-loaded with Firefox and an email program, has about 4G of memory, which should be enough if I don't d/l anything but Semagic to it for my web-browsing needs, and it's TEENY. Like, about the size of my portable DVD player. Chris has played with one at work - he works in IT, so he gets to try a lot of toys - and he thinks they're great. Enough that he said he's willing to spend extra money to get me it, instead of what he had been planning. I'm just wanting a little extra in the way of informed opinion. :)

Happy new year, all!

I spent it watching wrestling (what? It's Monday night!) and pondering calling my parents, but I seriously doubted they'd be up and so I didn't. Now I'm pondering going back to my SGA season 1 DVDs... I have only The Gift and The Siege 1 and 2 left, and so I'll be finished them by tomorrow night. I got hooked some time during season 3, and when it was in its mid-season hiatus I got caught up from about the 4th episode of season 2 right through to the present, so I was just missing season 1. And a lot more of the fic I'm reading makes sense... not to mention the tie-in novels. Because I'm a geek like that and buy the tie-ins for shows a lot of the time (I wonder what ever happened to all my Star Trek TNG novels? I still have my X-Files ones...)

Speaking of SGA, Chris got me hooked on a Gilmore Girls/Stargate Atlantis crossover fic called Physics of the Spin by mhalachaiswords. I've read some of their Supernatural stuff and some of the Buffyverse crossovers before, so I finally caved and added them to my flist.

I am INCREDIBLY glad for my day off tomorrow. Like, I have no words for how glad. I'm torn between having it be a useful day of cleaning and stuff and spending it lying around, not even getting dressed. It will probably end up being the latter, but currently I'm entertaining notions about being productive.

I need to rewatch Supernatural 1.21 Salvation. For no reason. *shifty eyes* Also, 1.12 Faith. *la la la* And 1.10 Asylum *hums Metallica a little* And finish my "How the Winchesters Saved Dean's Soul" before it's revealed (or not, depending on the strike) and I get Jossed. Or Kripked, but my understanding of the former is when you're completely screwed in your fic, where Kripked is when you're astonishingly correct in your idea, and really, I'm sure they ain't doing my idea. On a related note, have I mentioned that the SuperWiki is made of AWESOME?

I'm also playing with the idea of writing some SGA fic, although that is HIGHLY unlikely. I think I'm getting a handle on most of the voices, but... all I want to write is big epic action-packed stuff, with puddlejumper explosions and mauled!John and nurse!Ronon (because I'm sick in the head a little, I guess) and... THESE ARE NOT MY WRITING STRENGTHS. I am made of epic fail with people having like, five hands apiece and stuff materializing in the middle of nowhere and... On the other hand, my love of exposition makes me REALLY want to write McKay. I know, I know, exposition is not a GOOD thing in fic. But. I still enjoy having a character who is totally Captain Infodump by nature. Unlike SPN, where NO ONE says ANYTHING, EVER. But then, they have all the meaningful glances and shoulder bumps and movements in unison and THE CAR. And DEAN. I still want to be Dean when I grow up. Dude. Stealing a cement mixer is never not made of WIN \o/. I watch No Exit pretty much just for that.

I was talking genre TV at work today, and I confessed to having something of a crush on SGA's McKay, because he's the biggest asshole on TV this side of Greg House, who, by the way, is also LOVE. I told that to Chris, who handtogod replied with, "Well, you know, I'm not exactly the nicest guy either." ROFL. We also tried to understand my weird need to have sci-fi (in a space-travel context, mostly) be clean. I loved ST: TNG. Love SGA. Loved Babylon 5, but it took a LOT to get me into it. Can't watch Battlestar Galactica, Lexx or Farscape simply because of the look on the shows. Not enough clean lines, blue skies and open air. Or something. Can't get through Dune or Blade Runner, either. I like to read cyberpunk stuff, but I CANNOT watch it for love or money. I know, I'm weird. Especially since it doesn't translate to things like horror... I loved Cube, love SPN (and let's face it, sometimes the lighting in it is NOT made of win, especially early on) and X-Files (ditto); the original Evil Dead makes me squee every time I see it (and I've watched it at least a dozen times). I dunno. I admit it, I'm just weird.

In conclusion, beause I really, really want tea right now, although I'm not really present at LJ (I know, I still post, but I've not been actually present for my flist of late) I am still reading all non-fannish things and following a few WIPs even though I rarely say much. I still think about all of you often, and one day hopefully things will be less hectic and I can come and comment my head off at all of you. :) Maybe that's what I'll use my vacation at home for at the end of January... or maybe not. I know I'll be crazy busy with family things...

Okay. Off to make "candy cane" tea (I bought it because I'm a SUCKER, but I do want to try it) and to watch some more SGA. Also, I have another new layout - "Aurora." It has PENGUINS OMG. PENGUINS. And you see their little TAILS. *flails*

Happy birthday beanside!

This week's journal theme: Fireplace Stone.

Has everyone seen that LJ is banning some interest searches? More info here. For example... BLOCKED includes:
Anything with the string "spic" (including "spice girls" and "spicy food").
Oh, LJ. You aren't making it easy to love you.

I talked to my brother tonight for a little while - he wanted me to play online poker, and normally I would have done it in a heartbeat, but I was watching Garfield's Christmas... and fell asleep before I managed to even finish watching it. I got pretty much no sleep last night, so I wound up napping off and on for about four hours on the couch. I'm not feeling well... when I got home at 6:30 I was starving, but by the time I got food on my plate I wasn't hungry any more an my stomach was hurting. I tried eating anyway, but it just made me feel sick. I still feel queasy now.

I finished icing all my cookies from yesterday; I still have some Christmas wrapping that I have to do and then I can box them up to mail tomorrow. Christmas cards are in the mail as well. *sigh* Well, I guess that's all the procrastinating I get. Back at it.

Yay for dentist appointment tomorrow! I have to go by work and pick up a few things before I can leave, and I htink my Dad wants the newest Medal of Honor game, so I have to stop by the Electronics Boutique. Then I thik I'll be stopping at Zellers to get the last of my stocking stuffers... and then I'm ccoming home to nap. Dentist appointments at 8:30 in the morning are EVIL I tell you. Also, I plan on shopping with my face all frozen. Am I weird in thinking that's not really a big deal? Everyone else seems to think that it is, and are marveled by my ability to keep functioning after a dentist visit. But it's a rare thing when it phases me... like, I had my upper wisdom teeth out (minus sedation, because I didn't think I'd need it) and came home with my face still frozen and chewing on gauze to stop the bleeding and proceeded to have a conversation of over AN HOUR with xena_and_gabby on the phone. I only got off the phone because I could feel my face again and I was supposed to have taken some Tylenol 3s and changed out the gauze within a half hour and forgot about it. I only get tense because I have sensitive teeth, and the cold water splashing on my front teeth hurts like a mofo.

SGA vid rec: Gods Rest Ye Merry Stargate Folk. SGA filk; I love the images. It's really a tribute to McKay.

And a meme before I go. I'm going to sort out my stocking stuffers that I've already bought to see how much more I need to get.

What The Holidays Mean to You

For you, the holidays are about emotional connections and bonds. You are happiest being around those you love.

You celebrate the holidays in a minimalist style. You are likely to only give one great present and decorate your house with a few special items.

During the holidays, you feel magical. You love all of the decorations and how happy people are. You like to sit back and take it all in.

You think the holidays should be nostalgic and sweet. The holidays bring out your inner child.

Your favorite holiday memories strongly evoke your senses. You are vividly aware of all the tastes, smells, and sounds of the holidays.

What Do the Holidays Mean to You?

AHAHAHAHAHA. I was really frustrated for a few hours, because it seemed like everyone was sniping at each other. So from about 11 to 2, it was sucky, but then it wasn't bad after that.
I came home to christmas cards - one from my aunt, one from killerweasel (thank you!), and my Christmas present from Mom. As I was telling xena_and_gabby...

[02:11] Amy: i got my christmas present from grandma today...
[02:11] Gabs: ooo
[02:11] Gabs: whatcha get?
[02:11] Amy: and i called mom to ask if she knew if it was wrapped inside the package, because I am GOOD and don't open things until CHRISTMAS
[02:12] Gabs: lol u suck lol
[02:12] Gabs: i woulda so opened it
[02:12] Amy: and Mom said she didn't think it was "for Christmas" but to use "at Christmas" and egged me on to open it
[02:12] Gabs: lol
[02:12] Gabs: i like ur mom
[02:12] Amy: so i opened the card... and it played christmas music...
[02:12] Gabs: hee!
[02:13] Amy: and I was all, "MOM. THIS IS TOTALLY MY CHRISTMAS PRESENT."
[02:13] Gabs: lol
[02:13] Amy: "I AM NOT OPENING IT OMGWTFBBQ?!? WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME OPEN IT?"
[02:13] Amy: And she was all, "open it. Come on. You should check, just to see."
[02:13] Gabs: u are annoyingly well behaved
[02:14] Amy: so I opened the box, because Mom said that she knew of some stuff grandma bought me and told me it wouldn't have fit in the mailer it came in
[02:14] Amy: AND IT WAS CHRISTMAS PRESENTS.
[02:14] Gabs: lol
[02:15] Amy: I yelled at her. she giggled. I made this face: :@ And this face: >:-0 And told her she was EVIL.
[02:15] Gabs: lol
[02:15] Gabs: what was it
[02:16] Amy: then she told me all about how her cold was making her nose all red... so I called her Rudolph for the rest of the conversation.
[02:17] Amy: well, I didn't totally look... I got a cheque, and hid it back in with the musical card... and a christmas tablecloth runner, which is totally too fancy to use at my place, and some kind of collector's plate, because I could tell it was round and had one of those standing brackets... but I didn't unwrap it, so I don't know what it's of.
[02:17] Amy: I'm TRYING to be GOOD here.
[02:17] Gabs: boo!

After I got off the phone with <strike>Rudolph</strike> Mom, I napped until pizza came, and then I watched... something, can't remember what... and then flipped between SGA and SPN, and then watched the Bones repeat, and at 11 pm I decided it was time to watch stuff I'd recorded and bake gingerbread cookies. Um. I seem to have a problem with baking at like, midnight. So I watched the Criminal Minds with Jim Beaver in it, and the NCIS episode that opens with DiNozzo giving mouth-to-mouth to Gibbs. I don't read fic for NCIS, but I understand that Gibbs/DiNozzo is a popular pairing, and I bet there was much glee over that. I'm actually surprised I didn't hear about that from anyone on my flist... Anyhow, I just finished decorating the cookies, and I think I'm going to sample one, because this time I made it from a mix. I've never done that before, but it's faster than making the dough and letting it chill for over 2 hours before it's workable... but I have no idea how it will taste. It smells a little funny... I bet there's a lot of nutmeg in it... and it's WAY darker than any others I've made... hmmm... I bet I can feed them to people at work anyway.

A meme thing before I go...

Yeah, I'm finally doing that Wikipedia band meme thing.

1. Go to the Wikipedia home page and click random article. That is your band's name.
2. Click random article again; that is your album name.
3. Click random article 15 more times; those are the tracks on your album.

Band: Whizzer (roller coaster)
Album: Tefillin

1. Woody Woodward
2. Christianoconcha
3. Eucalyptus crenulata
4. Census in the Isle of Man
5. 1837 English cricket season
6. Pedro Halffter
7. Ma-Ma-Ma Belle (and this is an actual song! I amuse myself with this knowledge.)
8. LGL
9. 1960-61 in Greek football
10. Cantando (album)
11. Simon Amor
12. Quebec Route 133
13.The Flame of Life
14. Mount Marcus Baker
15. Baroness Paula Von Gunther

And now, I htink it is off to bed, because I am completely exhausted. Later, kiddies.

Saw a dentist today. Seems to be that I was indeed correct, and I have cracked teeth on both my "six-year molars." I have teeth that, while resistant to gum disease and have little plaque and tartar buildup, seem to really be prone to decay. And if there's decay, it's usually really fast in hollowing out the tooth it's in... so both those molars (especially since they're the oldest teeth in my mouth) have HUGE fillings in them. And the clenching and grinding I do in my sleep have cracked the distal sides of the bottom ones. Fillings in both, hooray! And a filling up top that hopefully won't be as big as the others. And an appointment for a cleaning in January. And estimates for my crown on my tooth that I had a root canal done on, like TWELVE YEARS AGO, have been sent in. Whee! Lots of dental work! I have the small upper filling and the bottom filling for the tooth that's hurting (same side) booked for 8:30 AM Friday the 14th, and the cleaning in January, the rest to be determined later. Best of all, the doctor is super nice, the office is upstairs from work, and they're really on the ball with things. And? My insurance will cover most of it, and anything that's not covered should be covered by Chris' insurance, so NO MONEY FROM ME!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHA! I walked in at 10 am, had 4 x-rays (2 bitewings, one specific for the sore tooth, and a Panorex), had the dentist look at stuff, talk over the pain, a bunch of tests to make sure there was no infection and they were looking at the right tooth for being the one that was hurting (teeth are funny and often defer pain so it seems like a healthy one is the one that hurts), and at 10:45 I walked out without having to hand over any cash at all!

I know, I'm odd... I like dentists. I don't even freak out over the needles. I only really hate extractions and the tooth clamps, because I have tight contacts and they usually wind up slicing up my gums a little. And I have sensitive teeth, so I dislike the air on my front teeth... but I can deal with it. I'm kind of looking forward to the appointments. We'll see if I'm still singing the same tune after I have this massive filling that basically has to rebuild the side of my tooth! LOL!

So I've been playing around over at Wikipedia. And somehow wound up looking at listings for Juno winners. I've always been a sucker for Canrock, and made a point of watching the Junos just about every year... I even went to the show last year. Rock album of the year has gone to a lot of musicians I have fond remembrances of... and apparently, most winners get it more than once. Some of the names, though, bring far more giggles than memories... like, who had the bright idea of giving Slik Toxik's Doin' the Nasty album of the year in 1993? New group of the year has had some real winners, but some real, "Where are they now?" stories, too. I mean, *I* know who Johnny Favourite Swing Orchestra are, but I grew up in Ottawa, where Johnny made a living as Johnny Vegas, the host with the most. And Sky? I remember them, but only once I saw track listings for them. Did Loverboy really need to win Group of the Year? Three years running, no less? Bryan Adams pretty much owned Artist of the Year in the 1980s. Though there was 1990, which gave the award to Kim "Patio Lanterns" Mitchell.

Oh, Canada.

Anyway. Speaking of Canadian content, CTV is running a new show called "Sabbatical" featuring Patrick McKenna, of Traders and Red Green fame (although I suspect he might be most familiar to people on my flist as Jay Felger on two episodes of Stargate SG-1). He's not the star, but gives a great performance as a creepy minister in a small town.
: Family (Paleontologist Mom, on-sabbatical Dad and two kids, one is a moody teen, the other is an autistic young boy) moves from the big city to a tiny town in the Badlands so Mom can work on a dig there. Moody Teen is moody and tells people she's older than she is and that her name is Crimson, Dad has some weird shit going on, Mom is oblivious that isn't DINOSAURS OMG YAY!!! or the little kid. Little kid is spooky-weird. Moving along, they're driving and have a flat tire. Some trucker stops and helps them out, but Spooky wanders off. He wanders into the path of some older kids shooting gophers (MY POOR GOPHER BABIES!!! I almost turned the show off in solidarity, but they had closeups of the gophers being cute before turning into red mist, so... I didn't, and watched through my fingers.) and instead of stopping the shooting, the kids AIM FOR SPOOKY. WTF? Anyway, parents find the kid, grab him, and head back to the car, where Moody is chatting up Trucker Guy, telling him she's 17 (she SO ISN'T - I thought 14 or 15, tops) and proceed to freak out on him about the gunshots they heard. He calmly tells them that yeah, he heard them, but sound carries, coulda been from 10 miles away. He leaves, and Dad is all suspicious. So they pack up and head out. Arrive at a truck stop motel where they stay for the night... and who shows up but Trucker Guy. Moody says she's going to bed, but goes out to chat with Trucker Guy some more, where he tries to get her into the cab of the truck - which Dad spots through the window. Moody peeks in, but doesn't get all teh way in - good thing, since we can see he has restraints and a whip in there. She backs off, everything is calm, people go to bed... then we see Trucker Guy breaking in the window to the room hte kids are sharing. Dad hears it, and goes in to the rescue, beating the crap outta Trucker Guy, who says something weird along the lines of "That does not belong to you." Cops are called, Trucker is arrested... and Dad is told that they hold him for a few days and then it's up to the judge. And that, "It would be better for him to have taken your kid out of the room beofre you hit him." Dad is understandably WTF? at that, but in the morning, they move along to their new town.
They get to the new place, and a neighbor comes over to introduce herself and invite them to dinner. Spooky actually seems to come out of his shell and plays with Kid next door. Everyone is amazed, since he's autistic and doesn't, y'know, PLAY with OTHERS. But he is here. They go to dinner, and Creepy Minister comes as well, and he's obviously some kind of crazy. He tells them he doesn't believe in "ologists" - psychologists, etc. Mom takes offense, and since there have been incidents of vandalism at the dig, assumes he's to blame. He has been trying to get local merchants to stop doing business with people associated with the dig. Later that night, Moody is trying to get cell reception - apprently there is none in town. She sees an argument with Neighbour and Shadowy Man, and Neighbour comes out on her porch to smoke. Moody asks if she's okay, to which Neighbour replies, "Stay out of my business, you little witch." Moody is suitably, "Whatever," about it and goes inside.
Cut to the next day. Neighbour, Kid and Teen Brother have been quite messily murdered overnight. Stephen McHattie is Oddball Cop in charge of the investigation, interviewing them. Weird scene. Mom goes off to work at the dig, and Dad leaves Moody in charge of Spooky all day. He oes about town and ends up in some bar with Hot Bartender, making mysterious phone calls to some Woman in Mourning and some account, which he is notified has been terminated. He runs into Oddball who busts his chops for not asking about the investigation. Hottie flirts with him. Meanwhile, Moody runs into some local kids, finds one guy - Jordan, pretty much the only name I remember in the whole episode - entrancing, and is told to come to a party. They'll send a car to pick her up at 10 pm at the lighthouse (the town is called Beacon and there's a mini-lighthouse in the middle of town). She sneaks out to join the party and sees Dad stumbling out of the bar. She shows up at the party/bonfire, and Jordan is wearing some kind of hooded cloak and tells her ominously that he's glad she found a way to make it. Meanwhile, Dad peers in the window at the neighbour's place, and sees a pentagram in blood on the wall. DUM DUM DUM. Also featured in the episode - Mom and some hot archaeologist with some kind of backstory yet to be revealed. It didn't really fit into the narrative.

Making a long story... longer... I kind of liked it. I find the story interesting - I'm a sucker for the weird town thing in general, it's the only reason I gave Desperate Housewives any kind of a shot at all in first season... but I loved Picket Fences and American Gothic - but it all depends on how they tell the story. It had better start playing out, and quickly, because I'm already getting the sense of too many plot threads and not enough information. I'm more mystified by the lack of information about the show. CTV has nothing about it on their site, they've run no blitz ads for it (in fact, I only saw anything about it today and it was by chance because I rarely watch anything on the main CTV feed) and IMDB has nothing on it (which is not unusual, since it's a Canadian production with only a few actors that have name value even in Canada... Stephen McHattie, Patrick McKenna, and I recognized the mom but I have no idea from what). The production company has a mini-site on it, but it's just production details for the most part, and not even a cast list. I am irked at this. It could be a great show - could be Canada's answer to something like Lost, for instance - but they're not doing anything to help it find an audience. And not even anything online, either. Meh.

I was going to do a health update, but maybe tomorrow, as I am a slow typer and it is now after 4:30 AM.

Been away from computer a lot recently. Had another bunch of crashes, so I've been avoiding a lot of LJ... and I haven't been feeling well again, and I've been working like crazy, with another three days to go before a day off. I have, however, managed to up my average sleep quota from about 2 hours of naps and 1.5 hours of sleep to about 1 hour of naps and 3 hours of sleep. Unfortunately, I'm a light sleeper and have had very interrupted sleep lately.

I've been spending more time reading (trying to avoid actively engaging my brain when sleep should be imminent, so avoiding the computer is part of a Plan) and have finished the second Danny Valentine novel, the second official SGA tie-in novel, something else that I am forgetting, and I'm halfway through the second Weather Wardens novel and about 1/3 through the Lies of Locke Lamora - all in the last week to 10 days. I'm debating whether or not reading actually helps me, since I have in the past written fanfic... and all these vibrant universes sort of spark something in me, which is not necessarily good for sleeping. Except for the SGA novel, which was insta-sleep for the first 70 or so pages, but the middle section got markedly better. I sort of hate most media tie-ins... the only ones I ever actually liked were the X-Files ones I had when I was like, 14. (Okay, I still have them, four of them, anyhow.) But I never really liked the Buffy and Angel ones (some weren't bad, some were utter dreck) and I never finished SPN's Nevermore - and our store has not gotten any of Witch's Canyon, so I have no idea how it is. But the opening to this SGA one... God, it made my teeth hurt. I just think you probably don't need to do the in-depth world- and character-building in a tie-in. Some description is okay, but it really fell into the telling-not-showing trap, and... oy. Not to mention I felt that some of the early characterization was off... and I actually said to the husband that although I haven't read a lot of SGA fic, about 90% of what I've seen is better than that. Fortunately, as I said, the middle wasn't all suck.

I have to remember to make a dentist appointment for Friday, if I can. Teeth are hurting, and on a frequent basis, so I can't ignore it any more. When it was a little twinge once a week, I could forget about it, but daily, and two or three times, is too much. I like dentists, but I don't like having to a)find one, because I am bad and never bothered when I moved to another city, and b)paying for it (I have insurance, but mine isn't direct-billing, and I don't know how this putting-it-on-husband's-plan works), and c)going through the whole new patient thing and have a series of appointments when I seem to never have time off to do anything else let alone dentist visits. Oh well. I should have just done this in the summer when I had more time that seemed to be free.

Watched wrestling today. The worst-kept secret in the history of wrestling has come out in the open - Chris Jericho has come back. I like Chris a lot. He has his faults, and I could list them in detail, but. I keep coming back to worship the Ayatollah of Rock-And-Rollah. What can I say? Anyway, I'm much more interested in RAW than I have been in a while. Jeff Hardy is getting a push, I'm actually liking the Finlay-Hornswoggle angle, Randy Orton as champ is a CHANGE, at least, Triple H isn't being all intrusive (for him, at least), and Jericho in the mix? Good enough for me. Now maybe I won't just sleep through it any more.

One last thing before I go - has everyone seen this post? WTF, Dean bust? I know we all lovingly point out Jensen's slight cross-eyed tendencies, but. WTF??? This is like James Dean (mostly for the hair and eyebrows) meets Tim McGee from NCIS meets the zombies from Night of the Living Dead. The scarecrow bust is wicked cool, but. If that's the base Dean sculpt, I will NOT be buying anything. Because, dude. Just. WHAT??? It makes the Illyria sculpt of crappiness for the action figures look accurate... especially since this is a BUST, not a tiny little doll-head. ACK! Someone send them an *actual* picture of Jensen, stat!

You know what sucks? Insomnia. It's 6 am and I am still up... but I don't feel well and can't sleep because of that.... and all I do want is the sweet, sweet oblivion of sleep.

And I have somehow managed to make no progress on teh million and a half tabs (actual count, I swear) that are open on my computer.

Today has been made of EPIC FAIL.

And I think tomorrow I'm supposed to go in to work - on my day off - and plan this staff meeting that is on Sunday - also a day off for me. *sigh*

I just hope that I'm feeling better by the time I get up. I'm debating the setting of an alarm clock. If I don't, I'll sleep till 3. And thus, the going in to work to plan said meeting will not be happening. If I do, I'll set it for 11ish, thereby getting about 4 hours of sleep if I'm lucky. Granted, I usually go on about 2.5 hours on a good night, with another 2 hour or so nap in the evening... but. Day. Off. DO NOT WANT WORK. I was supposed to have a concrete plan by this afternoon, as manager was supposed to call me to let me know what opur plans would be, but she had not called by the time I got up at 2 pm and she's been sick for the last week, so I didn't want to call work because it was likely she went home at noon. And if she was sick enough to leave I didn't want to call her at home.

I also have not made the notes on the things we should discuss at the meeting. As I said, today was EPIC FAIL on ALL fronts. I did not call my family, as I was supposed to do; I did not get laundry done; I did not get supper made until far too late and it was not up to its usual standards; and I did not get things mailed that really should have been mailed long ago. FAIL. Such is my life.

I might just see if I can sleep now, that and find some painkillers.
Worked at the other mall today. Had a good time; the girls working there think I'm about the funniest thing ever, and adore me because I brought in muffins for them. Of course, it was all fun and games there until about 3 pm anyway, since we had no stock to deal with, just the weekly returns, and we got 2/3 of tehm done by then. Unfortunately, we received about 15 boxes direct-from-vendor this afternoon and another 2 full skids from our warehouse... that's a LOT of stock at a small store. Tomorrow I'll have to work my ass off.

Tried to go to the haunted house thing... except the lineup was 2 hours long! That's CRAZY! They made a point of telling us that it was definitely not for kids, so now I'm wondering just how scary it is... Wednesday I'm off work at 5, and so I've been elected to get there by 8 pm to hold a spot in line for us, because the other 2 girls have to work until 9. I'll have to come home, wash off all my scarecrow makeup, and have supper before that... but I can squeeze in Pushing Daisies before I have to leave, which is good. I'm kind of ambivalent about the whole thing, though, as my original plans for Halloween night were to wear my Halloween jammies with all the lights off and all my Halloween votive candle holders lit (and my plug-in pumpkin and plug-in ghost lit, too) and watch scary movies all night. I do that every year... especially since the selection of Halloween programming gets sparser every year. I remember being a kid, going out trick-ir-treating, getting back at 8:30 and watching a marathon of Roseanne halloween shows, or Home Improvement, or Edward Scissorhands, or the Nightmare Before Christmas, or the Munsters movie... but this year? Nothing. I think AMC is marathoning Halloween-the-movie, and I think a channel tonight ran a bunch of Friday the 13th... but there's very little in the way of Halloween programming. It makes me sad. And tomorrow night is when they're running It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and the Garfield Halloween Special... and I'm at the AGM for our mall. Double-sad. That also means that since I won't be home until 10:30 at the earliest, I'll have to download all my shows... NCIS, Bones, and Reaper for sure, I might be content to just see the last half of House and I'll be in in time to catch L&O:SVU, Supernatural, and American Gothic. (Yes, I do live in Canada and in a weird time zone...)

Oh well, I have cupcakes to bake and icing to make before I can go to bed... I do love Halloween, therefore I must spoil my staff rotten. :)

DEAR ASSTASTIC COMPUTER:

Plz to be STOPPING with the CRASHING OF MY BROWSERS.
I have 213 GB of free space on this hard drive, there is NO REASON to crash out on me when all I have running is an internet browser with 20 tabs and one Word document. Also, please to stop making ANY video I play - streaming or downloaded - be the glitchiest thing EVER. Also, why must it take - and I timed it - THREE MINUTES to open up MSN.com? I have high speed internet! Chris' computer doesn't do this shit. On a related note, why do you often tell me that the page cannot be displayed and take about 5 tries before it will open? I HATE YOU.

I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD I WILL TAKE A HAMMER TO YOU, BITCH.

If I seem to have stopped commenting on your journal, that would be why. It's all I can do to read the posts on my flist, assuming I can even get the page to load, but opening a new tab to comment is just not going to happen.

The real kicker? This is AFTER getting the second HD installed, with far more space on it, and it was supposed to make it go faster, too. It made things go more slowly and it keeps. getting. worse. every. day.

*stabs computer with a rusty spork*

On a non-ranty note, tomorrow night i am supposed to be going to a haunted house and maze thing. I've never gone to one before. I am more excited than a 27-year-old should be, I'm sure, but. I will be wearing my Old Navy t-shirt with the full moon and bats on it - I made a point of planning that out. Not that you will see it, because the high tomorrow is supposed to be 7 degrees Celsius, dropping to somewhere between 2C and -5C in the evening. And it will already be dark out, so it will be a cold mofo... But I'll know I'm wearing my bat shirt and it will make me happy. I also have my Halloween mugs on rotation - I have 4 Halloween mugs, plus I have both the Supernatural ones from the WB's site, and since Friday I've been only using those ones.

I'm covering for another manager at their store tomorrow and Tuesday, and Tuesday night I have the mall's Annual General Meeting, so I have a packed few days. On the upside, I have a long weekend coming up because I have to switch from Sunday to Thursday to Tuesday through Saturday for two weeks while the manager is gone... again... I have to do some major housecleaning, though, so my weekend will not be a relaxing one. Then Friday the 9th is our bake sale at work, and I'm making 3 things for it. My applesauce-cinnamon loaf is easy to make (it's a variant on the one in the Joy of Cooking), and I saw a recipe for mocha shortbread that I want to try... and I think I might make cookies too. We'll see what my coworkers come up with, since if everyone else is making cookies I won't feel the need to make more.

My back has been really, really, really hurting the last couple weeks. Like, so bad I can't sleep and it hurts to move. That's kind of where I'm at right now, so I think I'll try a hot shower and maybe a couple hours of sleep before I have to be up for work in 4 hours.

I finally got my Semagic set up to post to all my journals. I've only been planning to do this for, oh, about a month. *sigh* Now it's done, and I can go to bed... at 6 am... and hopefully get 2.5 hours of sleep before I have to be up for work.
